I enjoy working with people who inspire me. A lot of them I discovered while taking university-related assignments. I consider that as one of the perks of working in the university.
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Task Force
Recently as you have probably know, I was assigned by the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Noraeini Mokhtar to work under a task force which responsible for the implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE) and iCGPA in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. Most of the preparation works were done in July and August which concluded in September with a two phases of roadshow across the schools in UMT.
8th National Technical Seminar on Underwater System Technology (NUSYS 2015)
At the same period of time, my mentor (Prof. Dr. Rizal Arshad) from USM encouraged me to be the convener/champion for the 8th National Technical Seminar on Underwater System Technology (NUSYS 2015). I jumped here and there which include Dean’s and VC’s offices to make this happen. I’ve learned a lot, especially on the protocol side of things, not because it was written somewhere, but through lots of mistakes. But anyway, the national seminar went very well. Surprisingly we received a lot of great guests from Petronas Carigali, UNISZA, UNIKL-MIMET, Subsea Explore Services, UTM and much more. We managed to get Dato Hj Abdul Halim Jusoh, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahir Liew, Dr. Norhazilan, Dr. Jaswar Koto and Prof. Dr. Khalid Samo on the stage. The Dean (Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Jusoh) and the VC was very happy. As a young lecturer, I’m so glad that I survived that one. I had to thank a lot of people who helped to make the seminar a reality which include Prof. Dr. Wan Norsani Wan Nik, Dr. Hairil, Dr. Asamudin, Dr. Anuar, Dr. Salisa, Dr. Suriani, Dr. Wan Mariam, Mr. Izham, Mr. Ruhaifi, Mdm. Suzilawati, Mr. Wan Azhar, Mdm. Fazirawani, Mdm. Zuhaini and Mr. Razman.
Massively Open Online Course (MOOC @UMT)
One more thing, the recording and material preparation for the Massively Open Online Course (MOOC @UMT) is still in progress. I hope I shall survive this one as well. I have to mention Prof. Dr. Noraini Hj Ali, for she was the one who nominate this task to me 🙂
Quadcopter @ INES-P Imtiaz Yayasan Terengganu & UMT
I love dealing with school kids. On September I manage to slot in a quadcopter class for 2 hours in INES-P programme with the students of Imtiaz Yayasan Terengganu. They were bright students, I must tell you.
Bachelor of Applied Science (Naval Architecture and Marine System)
The new programme, as we named it Bachelor of Applied Science (Naval Architecture and Marine System) was approved in preliminary level by the Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi. Thanks to a lot of my mentors for patiently guiding me through the process. As an inexperienced person handling a task on that magnitude, I felt very humbled and happy at the same time. We are aiming for 2017 to offer the course in UMT.
I have to give an enourmous thank you to my wife, Dr. Siti Nor Khadijah Addis a lot, for the unrelenting perpetual support that she has given me troughout my journey 🙂
